Chinese spending on travel rises
CHINA has replaced France as the fourth biggest spender on overseas travel with expenditure of US$43.7 billion last year, according to a report by the United Nation's World Tourism Organization.
Chinese expenditure has seen the fastest growth in the past 10 years, up from seventh in 2005. Even in last year's slowdown, tourism expenditure by China rose 21 percent.
France, the USA and Spain continued to be the top three tourist destinations.
China ranked fourth with 50.9 million visitors and it ranked fifth in tourism income (US$39.7 billion).
