Chongqing Wal-Mart sells expired ducks
A Wal-Mart store in Chongqing was found selling expired Zhangcha tea-smoked ducks after they were fried again. The illegal act was caught on spot by market regulators, Chongqing Evening News reported.
A Chongqing Industrial and Commercial Bureau official, Tang Chuan, told the newspaper that they received a complaint from a customer in late February, who bought a refried duck from the supermarket as evidence.
Bureau officials went to check immediately and found a woman employee was frying ducks that already passed their shelf life in the cooked food section.
Investigation showed that from the Wal-Mart store had sold 208 kilograms of outdated ducks in February, worth a total of 3,800 yuan.
A supermarket official admitted that it was an internal management problem, and the Chongqing Industrial and Commercial Bureau is still investigating the case.
