Chongqing media boss arraigned for bribery and embezzlement
THE former president of Chongqing Broadcast & Television Group stood in court on Tuesday for taking bribes of 49.04 million yuan (US$7.67 million) and embezzling 3 million yuan of public fund, Xinhua reported today.
Chongqing prosecutors charged Li Xiaofeng, who was also former director of Chongqing TV, of taking advantage of his position to take bribes from 17 persons and helping them get project contracts, job promotion, and exclusive rights as advertising agents for various TV channels. The total value of his bribes reached 49.04 million yuan.
Li was also accused of embezzling 3 million yuan from the media group to finance the operation of his friend's company. The court will announce its verdict soon, Xinhua said.
