City doctors arrive to help treat victims
FOUR doctors from Shanghai’s Zhongshan Hospital, two from general surgery and two from intensive care, have gone to Yunnan Province to assist in the treatment of earthquake victims.
A hospital spokeswoman said they flew in to Kunming at 1pm yesterday where they met up with doctors from Beijing and Guangzhou before setting off for the quake area in a minibus at 2pm. Their trip was expected to take around four hours..
The city government yesterday donated 10 million yuan (US$1.6 million) for victims.
Meanwhile, city travel agencies said residents already visiting Yunnan or who had booked tours would not be affected as scenic areas were far from the quake zone.
