Classes move to tea picking
A JUNIOR high school in Zhejiang Province sent its students tea picking for profit instead of having classes last week, Xinhua news agency reported today.
Parents of the students in Shanghu Town Junior High School in Pan'an County of the eastern China Province complained to education authorities about the safety of their children who were tea picking on mountains. Some were sent by buses to mountains in neighboring towns.
The school said it was part of the school's social studies program.
Pan Lixia, deputy head of the county, said the tea picking had been stopped and any money made would be used for the students.
