Coal mine guide urges crackdown
MORE measures were needed to crack down on illegal and heavy polluting coal mines, a guideline jointly issued by 14 Chinese government departments said yesterday.
The guideline said severe accidents frequently happened in illegal and small coal mines. It added the government needed to take greater efforts to ensure working safety.
China's government should promote healthy development of the industry by eliminating outmoded production methods, restructuring enterprises and improving the ability of coal mining management, it urged.
