EFFORTS should be made to boost the development of China’s coastal defense, Defense Minister Chang Wanquan said yesterday during a meeting at the Jinan Military Area Command.
The minister stressed that the overall national security outlook must be upheld and that strategic importance should be attached to coastal defense.
He also said that information technology in maritime management and control should be improved.
Chang stressed a balanced and coordinated approach to strengthening China’s national defense, and called on everyone to support improvements in the nation’s coastal defense.
