Cold and gales

A strong cold front will hit Shanghai from today and gales and rains will drag down temperatures, the city’s meteorological bureau said yesterday.

Today’s high will be 18 degrees Celsius, with drizzles, dropping to 15 degrees tomorrow and 11 on Wednesday.

The downtown temperature will plummet to a low of 7 degrees on Thursday and Friday mornings.

The low could drop to as low as 4 degrees on the city’s outskirts.

Strong winds — up to 60 kilometers an hour — are forecast tomorrow and Wednesday and rains will worsen the chill factor, said Kong Chunyan, a chief service officer at the bureau. The wind will ease from Thursday when the rain will stop and be replaced by cloudy weather.
