Communications restored in quake-hit Lushan County
COMMUNICATIONS in the earthquake-hit Lushan County was restored today, while communications in some areas of the hardly-hit Baoxing County was still cut off, Shanghai Daily reporter learned after arriving in Ya'an City this morning.
A group of 120 soldiers are on their way to Baoxing. Only rubber boats are allowed to get into the county as the other passages have been damaged by the quake, the reporter was told.
Some residents in Baosheng Village in Lushan County have been evacuated after a quake lake was formed. There are about 100 tourists in Baoxing, and around 10 people have not returned while climbing Jiajin Hill.
Shanghai Daily reporter arrived in Ya'an at 9:30am. Only military vehicles and ambulances are allowed to pass the section linking Ya'an and Lushan, he was told.
He managed to arrive at Lushan County around 1pm and is on the way to the hardly-hit Longmen Village.
