Convicted rapist wants lie detector to prove his innocence
THE founder of a language training school, who was accused of raping an intern, appealed yesterday for a lie detector test to clear his name.
The lawyer of Song Shanmu, former president of Sunmoon Lifelong Education Group, filed the application to court to allow both Song and the plantiff identified as Luo Yun to undertake a lie detector test as Song insisted on his innocence, the Southern Metropolis Daily reported today.
Song said the evidence was "far from sufficient" and the test should focus on whether he snapped nude photos of Luo. He sent his application to the Intermediate People's Court of Shenzhen in southern Guangdong Province.
Song had launched an appeal against his four-year sentence in jail for raping Luo in January 2010, the report said.
