Cop accused of killing kid while driving drunk

THE head of a police station in southwest China's Yunnan Province is being investigated after he was accused on the Internet of hitting and killing a three-year-old child while driving drunk in a police cruiser at high speeds, Yongshan County officials said yesterday.
Li Ying, head of the Huanghua police station in Yongshan County, was accused on the Internet of hitting the child after drinking at a banquet.
No details were available. Neither Li nor police had any comment.
The accusations were made in a forum hosted by www.kunming.cn, a news portal based in the provincial capital of Kunming.
Last year, disciplinary bodies began investigations into more than 155,000 cases based on public tips, of which more than 153,000 have been concluded, leading to 160,718 people being punished.
