Cop jailed after family sex scandal

A POLICE officer in south China's Guangdong Province has been jailed after organizing a severe attack on a man whose wife was cheating with the officer's father-in-law.

Former deputy captain Li, 35, was jailed for four and a half years and lost his job at Dongguan City Police's No.2 squad, today's Guangzhou Daily reported.

Li asked others to beat up a man surnamed Chen, who became angry after finding his wife made love to Li's father-in-law at a hotel on December 12, 2008.

The court said the punishment was lighter than usual because the victim had asked for leniency for the attackers, who paid him 290,000 yuan (US$42,485) in compensation.
