Cop penalized for using police car for holiday trip

A police station chief in a county in northwestern Shaanxi Province was demoted last Thursday for driving a police car on a vacation trip with his wife.
The officer surnamed Tan also received administrative warning from Zhenba County government, Xi'an Evening News reported today.
His police car with a Shaanxi license plate was spotted in a scenic spot in southwestern Yunnan Province and a blogger posted the photos of his car on several websites and wondered if the driver was on duty or using it for leisure.
The post prompted an official investigation that found Tan was using the police car for a holiday trip to Yunnan with his wife.
Tan was ordered to pay all the expenses incurred.
