Cop-killer suspect caught in Xiamen

A MAN who allegedly killed two police officers during a traffic check in south China's Guangdong Province has been caught in Xiamen City in Guangdong's neighboring Fujian Province.

The unnamed suspect was caught with a handgun in a hotel today, Xinhua news agency reported, citing Guangdong police.

Police also seized the police identity card of Huang Weijiang, the one of the victims, they said.

Huang, an officer with Jieyang City's Traffic Police Squad, and Zhou Xilai, a captain with the squad, were shot dead by a driver who resisted their checking his unlicensed Toyota Crown sedan at 11:50pm on Monday along the Shenshan Highway between Shenzhen and Shantou cities.

Guangdong police sent out more than 1,000 policemen to search the highway for the killer.
