Coroners rule out violence as cause of detainee's death
A report signed by coroners confirmed that the man who died unexpectedly on Sunday, the third day of his detention for his involvement in a riot, showed no sign of external violence.
The report showed that Xue Jinbo didn't suffer afflicted injuries or bone fractures and a significant appearance of liver mortis in his body attest to his sudden death in police custody in Shanwei City, southern Guangdong Province.
But the coroners could not identify the cause of his death and suggested a thorough postmortem examination, a local news website, southerncn.com, reported today.
Earlier, doctors of a local hospital said Xue died of cardiac arrest and ruled out other causes of death.
Xue was detained for taking part in a riot back in September over a land dispute in the city's Wukan Village where more and more rice paddies had been turned into plots for real estate development.
