Corruption fight
The head of China’s state assets regulator yesterday vowed to fight corruption in state-owned enterprises.
Zhang Yi, head of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, urged centrally administered SOEs to “set a higher priority on punishing corrupt officials.” Zhang also called on discipline inspection committees in SOEs to “maintain independence and authority when fulfilling their watchdog duty.”
Senior officials at SOEs will be held responsible for failing to investigate and report major corruption problems, Zhang added.
