Corruption tip-offs to win up to 10% rewards
PEOPLE in a central China province offering information or tip-offs about civil service corruption will get up to 10 percent of the illicit money involved, local prosecutors said.
Chang Zhiyu, deputy prosecutor general and spokesman for the Hunan People's Procuratorate, told China News Service yesterday that rewards could be as much as 200,000 yuan (US$29,200).
Prosecutors also promised a witness protection system to keep informants safe and a compensation system for injuries caused by retaliation.
Chang said Hunan prosecutors received 5,317 tip-offs last year and investigated 1,615 civil service crimes involving 2,001 suspects.
Prosecutors retrieved a total of 359 million yuan.
