Couple at large after robbing jewelry shop

BEIJING police are hunting a foreign couple who allegedly robbed a three-carat diamond ring worth 2.19 million yuan (US$319,400) from a local jewelry shop.
Witnesses said the the couple entered a Tiffany jewelry shop on downtown Wangfujing Street on Monday and asked the clerk to show him the ring.
When the man was observing the ring, the woman suddenly threw something into the counter to distract the clerk. The couple then grabbed the ring and dashed out of the shop, reported today's Beijing News.
The clerk lost them in the ensuing chase and called the police.
