Couple pardons army singer's son over road rage incident
THE couple who was assaulted by the 15-year-old son of well-known Chinese military singer Li Shuangjiang and his 18-year-old friend in a road rage incident finally came to terms with the boys' parents yesterday.
They allegedly forgave the two teenagers and hoped their parents to keep "a firm hold" on their wayward boys, news website sina.com reported today.
During his hospital visit to apologize to the injured couple on September 8, Li Shuangjiang, whose military rank is major general, bowed in tears and said: "I didn't give him a good upbringing. I feel sorry. I'd rather you hit me."
Yesterday the parents said they would not interfere with the court, but the couple said they had given up a lawsuit against them.
On September 6, a woman driver surnamed Yang slowed down to turn into a residential complex in the capital's Haiding District, which irritated the underage driver Li Tianyi, who was driving a convertible BMW without license plates with a friend sitting on the side.
They quarreled with Yang and her husband surnamed Peng and then beat them up.
Peng sustained injuries to his face and had 11 stitches. Yang's forehead was also wounded in the scuffle.
