Couple sentenced for selling their four kids

AN unmarried couple in Jiangsu Province was sentenced this week for selling their four children for more than 70,000 yuan (US$11,016). The man received a 10-year sentence and the woman a three-year sentence with a five-year reprieve.
Du Liang and Geng Jing started to live together several years ago. They had their first daughter in Pizhou City In March 2006, but the newborn looked purple and didn't cry. The couple, fearing the baby might have some disease, sold her to someone surnamed Xu for 6,600 yuan through a go-between.
From June 2007 to May 2010, the couple gave birth to three more children and sold them for a total of 68,000 yuan to pay debts and do small business.
