Court gives death verdict to piano student for murder

THE college student who stabbed a woman to death after his car knocked her down was sentenced to death today for intentional murder by the Xi'an Intermediate People's Court in the capital of Shaanxi Province.
Yao Jiaxin, a 22-year-old student at the Xi'an Conservatory of Music, stabbed Zhang Miao eight times after he saw the 26-year-old victim was trying to memorize his plate number after she was hit last October.
The court also deprived Yao of his political rights in the verdict. It is not known yet whether the convict would appeal the ruling, reported Cnwest.com, a news portal of Shaanxi Province, today.
