Court sentences multiple rapist to death
A MAN in east China's Anhui Province has been sentenced to death for raping 16 underage girls, sources with the Intermediate People's Court of Wuhu City confirmed yesterday.
Wang Yong, 40, was arrested in September 2012 on charges of raping a number of schoolgirls, aged from 12 to 16, since 2009.
The court sentenced him to death and deprived him of his political rights for life, and sentenced his accomplice, also an underage girl, to three years’ in prison earlier this month.
Wang, who was unemployed, pretended to be female on social communication networks such as QQ and WeChat to befriend schoolgirls, and eventually persuaded them to meet up with him.
His victims were taken to hotels, where he raped them.
Wang is said to have persuaded one 16-year-old girl, who claimed she was coerced, to seek younger victims for him. After winning their trust, the girl brought them to the hotels.
The court found that Wang had raped 16 underage girls 22 times, forcing them to do as he asked with threats of violence.
His victims included eight girls under 14 years old.
