Court to help the jilted

SOUTHERN China's Guangdong Province has set up a special court to investigate extra-marital affairs with the view of helping cheated spouses.

The judges of the court in Ronggui Township, Shunde City, will cooperate with local communities to dig out the roots of divorce and find supporting evidence and witnesses for betrayed spouses to help them win their lawsuits, reported yesterday's Guangzhou Daily.

The court has opened for trial operation this week.

If it proves successful, another six courts will be set up to handle more domestic disputes caused by extra-marital affairs.

In many divorces, innocent spouses often lose their suits and are forced to leave without any compensation because they can't give strong evidence to prove they were betrayed.

Some helpless women are even deprived of their property and children.

Since most people cover up their affairs, it is hard to get any evidence such as photos, video records and cell phone chat logs.

It is even more difficult to find out a witness, as many were reluctant to stand out for others' private business in fear of offending them.
