Court tries Jiangsu man charged with hacking 29 kids

A Jiangsu court today started to hear the case of a recent kindergarten knife attack in which 29 kids and three adults were injured.

The suspect Xu Yuyuan was charged with murder by prosecutors before the Taixing Intermediate Court. Xu admitted at the court his motive was to vent the rage against the society.

Wielding a chop knife, Xu allegedly stormed a classroom of Zhongxin Kindergarten in Taixing City, Jiangsu Province on April 29. He was subdued by school guards after hacking 32 children and teachers.

Most of the victims sustained head or face cuts. Four of them were seriously wounded.

A string of school attacks shocked China in recent weeks. Police were ordered to beef up security at school compounds and nearby residential communities.
