Crackdown on Spring Festival crime
A CRACKDOWN on robbery, theft and gun-related crimes has been launched by the Ministry of Public Security in a bid to ensure public safety during the Spring Festival holiday.
At a meeting about the campaign, Vice Minister Huang Ming urged police to take the initiative in fighting crime.
The campaign is aimed at preventing serious crimes involving guns, concentrating on online sales and explosives manufacturers.
Theft is also high on the target list, with a special focus on financial organizations and residential communities.
The ministry called for wider coverage of police patrols, especially around banks and other key public service locations.
