Crash jet was N. Korean stray
THE plane that crashed in northeast China on Tuesday was a military aircraft from North Korea, Chinese government sources said yesterday. Investigations found that the crash was caused by mechanical failure, the sources said.
The plane, which crashed in Fushun County of Liaoning Province, lost its course because of mechanical failure and strayed into the Chinese territory. The aircraft crashed into a civilian makeshift house, leaving no Chinese dead or injured. The pilot died on the spot, the sources said.
China and North Korea have reached consensus on coping with the aftermath and North Korea has expressed regret to China for the accident, according to the sources.
