DPRK's Kim meets Chinese presidential envoy

KIM Jong Il, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), met in Pyongyang today with Chinese President Hu Jintao's special envoy Dai Bingguo.

In a letter delivered by Dai to Kim, President Hu said the Communist Party of China and the Chinese government have attached great importance to the relationship between China and the DPRK.

In the spirit of "inheriting the tradition, facing to the future, developing the good-neighborly relations and strengthening the cooperation," China is ready to consolidate and develop the relationship between the two countries, he said.

It is China's consistent goal to realize denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and to safeguard and promote peace, stability and development of Northeast Asia, said the Chinese president, adding that China is ready to spare no effort to work with the DPRK to realize such goal.
