Dad jailed over attack on toddler
A MAN was jailed for three years in southwest China for hanging his daughter, 2, upside down outside an eighth-floor window after taking drugs.
Chenghua District People's Court in Sichuan Province's capital of Chengdu handed the verdict to 34-year-old Hu Binjun over the charge of attempted murder, yesterday's West China City Daily reported.
Hu was hallucinating from taking crystal methamphetamine when he dangled his daughter from the window by one leg for nearly four hours on July 7 last year, the court was told.
Prosecutors said he had threatened to jump out the window with his daughter.
Hu told the court he had a fight with his wife, who called police to intervene. He said he dangled his daughter out of the window for no more than 10 minutes and only to deter officers from entering.
But witnesses said Hu had suspended his daughter from the window for more than three hours.
The girl was rescued by more than 40 police officers and firefighters. She suffered bruises on her arms and legs.
