Dad whips girl to death

A FATHER was charged in Beijing for whipping his 12-year-old daughter to death with rubber tube because she allegedly lied and stole things.
Prosecutors said the father surnamed Liu was charged with intentional injury that caused the death, the Beijing News reported yesterday.
Liu's daughter ran away on July 2 and came back home on July 24. She told Liu she had stayed at her big sister's boyfriend's parents' apartment. The girl gave Liu a key to that apartment as evidence.
The owner of the key told Liu she had no son, but had once invited Liu's daughter to dinner, only to find her wallet missing.
Liu angrily tied his daughter to a ladder and used a rubber water tube as a whip to interrogate the girl about it.
Liu whipped her for half an hour until her back and buttocks were swollen and purple. Liu found his daughter unconscious an hour later. She died soon afterward.
Liu was imprisoned in 1994 for intentional injury. His wife said he was an alcoholic gambler who beat their daughters a lot, the report said.
