Daddy's absence causes student to vomit
A university student couldn't help throwing up in a hospital after an appendix removal surgery because his father was absent.
The 20-year-old man surnamed Li had the surgery in Changsha, Hunan Province two weeks ago and was recovering after his father came to take care of him, China News Service reported yesterday.
As soon as his father left for Shanghai due to his busy work, Li began to feel bellyache and started vomiting. The symptoms lasted for several days until his father came back in a hurry.
Medical examination showed Li had a small gastric ulcer which shouldn't be the cause of his vomiting.
Li said he felt frustrated that his father had to go back to work in Shanghai. His doctor Chen Du said emotional distress and anxiety could be the cause of the patient's psychogenic vomiting.
Chen gave Li some medicine and asked him to take part in outdoor activities to get rid of his anxiety, the report said.
