Dad’s treatment of girl who refused to wear coat criticized by netizens

PHOTOS that showed a man forcibly taking the clothes off his young daughter and dragging her down a street on a cold, rainy day in Yibin County in southwest China’s Sichuan Province caused outrage among many netizens after they were posted online this week.
The scene happened last week when the girl, about 5 years old, refused to put on her coat and threw it into a hole filled with water nearby, according to a witness surnamed Zhou.
They had been in a standoff for over five minutes when the man stripped off the girl’s clothes in a flurry of anger. The man dragged the girl for about 100 meters from the entrance of a lane to the end, according to another witness. However, a witness said they apparently had worked out their problem since they were seen talking and laughing a few days later.
A vendor at the site that day said, “I don’t think it constitutes child abuse, though the father did act violently when correcting his daughter.”
