Daring shotgun attacks rock Guangdong county

A POLITICAL advisor in a southern county has about 400 spherical pellets in his knees after a shotgun attack - the fourth such case in a week.
Shao Zhencai, an advisor in Dianbai County, Guangdong Province, and his family were attacked in a restaurant on Wednesday morning in Diancheng Town, the New Express reported yesterday.
Eight masked men, armed with shotguns and knives walked to their table in the restaurant. Three of them threatened other diners at gun point while five others approached Shao and asked him to point out his elder brother Shao Zhenfeng.
As Shao Zhenfeng tried to flee, the gangsters chased him. When Shao Zhencai tried to intervene they shot him, the paper claimed.
The two men were later admitted to Maoming City People's Hospital. Doctor said it was nearly impossible to remove all the pellets in Shao Zhencai's legs and he may have to carry them all his life.
Shao Zhenfeng meanwhile cut four tendons in his left hand besides fracturing his right knee and may not recover completely.
Video footages from surveillance cameras revealed that the gang had followed the brothers for at least five kilometers before the attack.
They rode motorcycles and carried shotguns on their shoulders and did not try to hide them even at highway tolls.
Shao Zhenfeng suspected a business dispute may be the cause of the attack.
A neighbor of the Shaos, surnamed Chen, also claimed he was shot in Diancheng Town last Sunday night. On April 4 and April 6, two similar incidents were reported in Mata Town in Dianbai County.
Police said they were investigating if the four cases were related, the paper reported.
