A VICE mayor of Datong in Shanxi Province was murdered in family dispute on Saturday, police said yesterday.
According to China News Service, Wang Weiguo, 51, was killed by his wife's older brother, Zhou Yun, about 8:45pm on Saturday.
Local police said Zhou was taking revenge for Wang's unwillingness of helping him and his son secure better jobs.
Zhou was held by police at 12:15pm yesterday at a highway service station at Yuanping City in Shanxi Province.
According to police, Zhou, a 58-year-old Datong native, has worked in Yunnan Province since 2007.
He had gone to Wang to ask for a transfer to a government institution and arrange a better job for his son.
When Wang refused, a resentful Zhou killed him, police said.
Zhou has confessed to the crime, police said.
