Daughter, 16, pushed to prostitution: prosecutors

A MAN and his lover faced trial yesterday for renting a room for the man's 16-year-old daughter to engage in prostitution in southwest China's Yunnan Province.

Because the case involved an adolescent, Wuhua District People's Court of Kunming City held a closed-door hearing for the case, news portal Cqnews.net reported.

Prosecutors from Wuhua District People's Procuratorate alleged Liu Shihua and his lover Zhang Anfen rented four rooms for the daughter to meet clients for sex.

Since Liu had been jailed for robbery and committed another crime within five years of his release, they argued for a heavier sentence.

Zhang faced an added charge of brokering prostitution because she had allegedly introduced a client to Liu's daughter, prosecutors said.

Police had noticed Liu's daughter working as a prostitute and planned to raid the room on March 16, the report said. But they mistakenly caught Zhang's two primary school daughters after the couple allegedly dressed them in the older girl's clothes.

After the police released the two girls, the parents complained that police had beaten them up while in custody.

To prove their innocence, they showed reports certifying the two girls were virgins, but police found they were faked, the report said

Liu's daughter was sent to detention for six months and has filed a lawsuit to appeal against the punishment.
