Daughter confesses to suffocating parents, dismembering bodies

POLICE in Guangdong Province have called for psychiatric tests on an 18-year-old girl who allegedly suffocated her parents to death, chopped up their bodies and stuffed them into 38 garbage bags.

The girl surnamed Qi stayed with her parents' bodies for at least four days after they died. Police raided the family's apartment in a village in Guangdong's Zhongshan city after their landlord reported that he saw blood in the home, Southern Metropolis Daily reported today.

Tenants had complained about a rotten stench from the building since Sunday, the Guangzhou-based newspaper said.

The girl, an only child, was found lying half naked under a bloodstained quilt when police broke into their home on Tuesday morning.

Qi confessed to police that she killed her parents, both 49, on the night of September 11 as her mother threatened to divorce her husband after a quarrel. Her parents had kept cursing each other even after she asked them to calm down.

To put an end to the noise, Qi said she grabbed a plastic bag from the floor, tied up her mother and put the bag over her head. Her mother had taken nearly half an hour to die.

Qi later bought a fruit knife, hammer and the garbage bags. She told police she dismembered the bodies and was planning to abandon them when police caught her.
