Death sentence for female mob boss

A FEMALE mob boss and an accomplice have been sentenced to death by a court in Chongqing Municipality for organizing prostitution in the city.
Wang Ziqi was tried in March with 29 of her associates. Chongqing No. 5 Intermediate People's Court handed down the death sentence yesterday to Wang and Tao Minggu after finding them guilty of bribery and starting a gang that forced women into prostitution.
Wang started the prostitution ring in 1994 with her younger sister Wang Wanning, who has been dealt with in a separate case, China News Service reported. The trial was not made public over concern for victims' privacy, the report said.
Wang Ziqi's mob was exceedingly cruel, the court said. The mob conned hundreds of women and forced them into the prostitution business. Anyone who refused to comply would be beaten up and tortured. Some 19 women had been seriously injured.
