Death sentence for rapist education official in Xinjiang

A former education bureau chief in Jimusar County, northwest Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has been sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve for sexual assaults on 35 women and girls between 2003 and 2010.
Wu Yong, 41, broke into the victims' rooms, molested and raped them, including 10 young girls, according to the Changji Prefecture Intermediate People's Court yesterday.
Wu also committed thefts involving 1,430 yuan (US$225) and was fined 2,500 yuan by the court, local news website, iyaxin.com, reported today.
Wu was also charged with illegal possession of a gun and 11 bullets.
