Death toll of Xi'an restaurant blast tops 10
Ten people have been confirmed dead and 32 others are still being treated in the hospital after Monday's deadly blast in a restaurant in Xi'an, northwest China's Shaanxi Province, local officials said today.
Five of the wounded victims are in critical condition, the officials said.
Xi'an Party Secretary Sun Qingyun has made a public apology to the city's residents, local news website, cnwest.com, reported.
The blast happened around 7:30am in a fast food restaurant on the ground floor of a commercial building in Gaoxin District. It was caused by the leakage of liquefied petroleum gas.
Since the restaurant faced the street, most of the injured were passers-by, Xinhua said earlier.
