Death toll rises to 9 in Guizhou construction site collapse
THE death toll from a partial collapse of an unfinished building Sunday in southwest China's Guizhou Province has risen to nine, the rescue headquarters said today.
A mold supporting structure in the corridor between two halls at the International Conference and Exhibition Center in Guiyang, capital of Guizhou, collapsed at around 11:30 am, burying 28 workers working at the area, said a spokesman for the rescue headquarters.
The death toll rose by two as one body was found in debris and another died in hospital.
Seven workers remained hospitalized and 12 more have been discharged from hospital after some treatment.
Local police were investigating the cause of the accident.
