Debtors stranded by blocked ticket sales

DOMESTIC airlines have stopping selling tickets to defaulting debtors, the Supreme People’s Court of China said yesterday.

The court passed the list of defaulting debtors to the civil aviation ticket selling system.

“Some 400 debtors were blocked almost 4,400 times by the flight ticket selling system on July 3 alone,” the court said.

Since nearly all the ticket selling systems of domestic airlines are operated by the state-owned TravelSky Technology Ltd, the defaulters are easily blocked, a civil aviation expert said.

The 12306 railway ticket selling website has also linked the list of debtors to its ticketing system.

“The railway authority has shared the information to make sure no tickets are sold to debtors through the website, telephone or the ticket stalls,” said Cheng Xiandong, director with the transportation department with the China Railway Corp.
