Defense minister calls on US to stop Taiwan bill

CHINA’S Defense Minister Chang Wanquan yesterday urged the US to stop a bill that reaffirms commitment to Taiwan and calls for continued arms sales to the island. “China is strongly dissatisfied with and firmly opposes the US House of Representatives passage of a Taiwan-related bill,” he said.

On Monday, the US House of Representatives passed the bill reaffirming the importance of the Taiwan Relations Act and called on the administration to sell Perry-class frigates to Taiwan.
