Desserts firm says sorry
A popular Hong Kong dessert brand has apologized for food safety breaches at its new outlet in Changsha, capital of central China's Hunan Province, where rotten mangoes were used to make desserts and out-of-date items were on sale.
Hui Lau Shan Healthy Dessert issued an apology and said staff will be retrained before the outlet reopens.
"Hui Lau Shan has asked all its outlets in China to tighten administration and strictly enforce the operation standards to provide safe and sanitary food to customers," it said.
Investigators found a lack of food safety knowledge and cleaning problems at the Changsha outlet.
