Dialogue hailed as unity key

VICE Premier Wang Qishan said in Washington yesterday that the new mechanism jointly launched by President Hu Jintao and his United States counterpart Barack Obama in April would be a major step to promote the China-US relationship.
Addressing the opening session of the China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue, Wang said Hu attached great importance to the first-round talks.
Wang read Hu's congratulatory letter to the opening session of the dialogue.
In his message to the opening session, Hu said China and the US shoulder important responsibilities on major issues concerning peace and the development of mankind.
Wang said: "We should make full use of the dialogue platform, build consensus, strengthen mutual trust, expand convergence of interests, and work to achieve mutually beneficial results."
