Diary leads to charge

AN official in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region was arrested yesterday after his incriminating diary was posted online and drew extensive attention from Netizens.

Han Feng, 53, head of the sales department of Guangxi's Tobacco Monopoly Bureau, received 482,000 yuan (US$70,613) and a 300,000-yuan apartment from companies contracted to refurbish and build offices when he worked in Qinzhou and Laibin cities, Guangxi's procuratorate alleged.

Han's diary, which included sex relationships with five women, was posted online in February and spread quickly among Internet users.

The procuratorate of Nanning City, capital of Guangxi, started on March 9 to investigate Han who had been suspended from his post.

The diary is still a hot topic on the Internet, with entries explicitly recording his sexual encounters with at least five women working as his subordinates.

Internet users have also focused on three men who allegedly gave Han bribes but have not been charged.
