Disease figures

A total of 563,589 infectious disease cases were reported on the Chinese mainland last month, of which 1,280 proved fatal, the National Health and Family Planning Commission said yesterday. None of the deaths were a result of Class A diseases, a category that includes plague and cholera, it said. Class B diseases, such as hepatitis, tuberculosis, syphilis, dysentery and gonorrhoea, accounted for 304,895 cases and 1,249 deaths, it said.
