Doctor bludgeoned to death with iron pipe in hospital attack

A doctor was bludgeoned to death at a hospital in northeast China today, China Central Television reported.

Sun Dongtao was working in the ear-nose-throat department of Beigang Hospital in Heilongjiang Province's Qiqiha’er City when his attacker hit him over the head repeatedly with a 50-centimeter iron pipe.

Sun was declared dead after emergency treatment, CCTV reported.

The attacker, surnamed Qi, had gone to the hospital with a nasal problem before the Spring Festival, police said.

Police said Qi wasn't happy with Sun’s diagnosis and had planned retaliation.
