Doctor retrieves hidden earphone from exam cheater

A college student in Chengdu, capital of southwestern Sichuan Province accidentally let a bean-sized earphone he used to cheat in an exam slip into his sensitive ear canal, Chengdu Business Daily reported today.

Zhang Hao, a 22-year-old senior student, told a doctor that he inserted the earphone into his left ear on Saturday but could not get it out afterwards. He felt hurt and his hearing was affected.

The doctor took more than 10 minutes to pick the tiny earphone out with surgical forceps. It looked like a small button cell and the doctor said he had never seen such a thing before.

Zhang admitted to the doctor that it was the earphone of a detectaphone which he used to cheat in the College English Test Level 4 on Saturday morning.

Zhang said if he could not pass the test he would have trouble finding a job when he graduates next summer. So he bought a detectaphone for 200 yuan.

However, the earphone slipped into the channel after the exam and he tried all means to get it out but failed.

The doctor said that if the earphone was not taken out in time, the young man would have to undergo an operation.
