Dozens of car tires slashed in residential areas across Beijing
Beijing police are investigating a case in which more than 100 cars had punctured tires on Saturday evening in several different residential areas, Xinhua news agency reported today.
Footage from a surveillance camera showed a middle-aged man wearing a mask entering a residential area in Chaoyang District around 6pm on Saturday, according to a security guard.
The suspect was seen in the video pushing a shopping cart and slashing the tires of nine sedans in two or three minutes before moving to a neighboring residential area, the report said.
“The tire can not be fixed since the puncture is on the side,” a sedan owner surnamed Su said. “A replacement costs about 2,000 yuan (US$319) for a premium car.”
