Dozens of firefighters out of contact; chemical defense force considered for rescue mission

Twelve firefighters were confirmed killed and 36 others out of contact so far during missions to respond to the series of warehouse blasts that rocked north China's port city of Tianjin late Wednesday night.

By 5am today, more than 600 fire fighters had been dispatched to the scene.

The Ministry of Public Security reportedly had ordered to slow down the actions on the scene because the existence of dangerous chemicals stored in the warehouse, Beijing News reported. Authorities are currently mulling a plan to send in chemical defense force to react to the crisis.
