Drink driver flees fatal crash

A DRINK driver who fled after killing two motorcyclists tried to beat police blood alcohol tests by drinking four bottles of water, one coconut juice and milk, Xianju County police in Zhejiang Province alleged yesterday.
Two college students, a man and woman, were killed in the crash on October 5. Hu Junkai, a Xianju native captured on video driving at 87.52 kilometers an hour at the time in a 60kmh zone, has now been detained, police told Xinhua news agency.
Hu surrendered himself to the police early next morning along with his family, but police found no alcohol in his blood.
Hu later confessed he had drunk four bottles of beer before the accident and told police he had drunk plenty of liquid afterwards to evade police blood tests. Police also detained a relative who bought him the soft drinks and hidden him at his mountain home.
